Election 2020: National set to lose MPs

From Morning Report, 6:55 am on 15 October 2020

Two days out from the election and National is facing the prospect of losing around a dozen MPs. With support for the party stagnating in the low 30s leader Judith Collins has been trying to shore up support in marginal seats. But her efforts have been overshadowed by MPs speaking out of turn and her comments about obesity. National MPs have told RNZ Ms Collins' remarks, in which she describes obesity as a weakness and personal responsibility, are a real distraction. She has cancelled a visit to the safe National seat of Tauranga. RNZ's deputy political editor Craig McCulloch talks to Susie Ferguson.
