Research into how New Zealand's political parties are using social media in their election campaigns is throwing up examples of so-called 'half-truths'.
Dr Mona Krewel from Victoria University is co-leading the research which has so far analysed well over 1000 facebook posts placed by the parties and their leaders over a two-week period.
While she says New Zealanders can be assured we're not being bombarded with "fake news", there is evidence of misleading behaviour from some parties.
