The International Students' Association says universities should help pay for international students' stint in managed isolation.
Education Minister Chris Hipkins announced yesterday 250 postgraduate students will be allowed to re-enter the country. The first few will be back from next month. Only those who are midway through their degree will be allowed to apply, and priority will be given to those who need to be in the country to do their course.
President of the Association Sabrina Alhady said it was an encouraging first step.
Universities New Zealand, which represents all eight institutions, says it's currently considering whether to help pay for the managed isolation fee. Its chief executive, Chris Whelan says it will make a decision by the end of the week.
