German health authorities are warning that Covid-19 could spread "uncontrollably", as the country experiences a significant rise in cases.

More than 4000 new Covid-19 infections have been logged over the last 24 hours - the highest toll since April - with Berlin one of the areas hardest hit.

Further measures including a night time curfew are now being put in place in the capital.

The health minister Jens Spahn reiterated the need for citizens to follow the rules.
