Residents of Lake Ōhau Village are hoping they will get a chance to retrieve essential items from their homes today.
A huge blaze, which began early Sunday morning destroyed or damaged an estimated 40 properties, roughly half the township.
Residents were given their first glimpse of the damage yesterday, as three buses took them on a tour of the area.
Media were then given separate trip.
