CDHB Doctors stunned by govt cash injection

Clinicians and doctors at the Canterbury District Health Board are stunned by the government's deficit matching cash injection but say it leaves many problems unresolved.

Chris Hipkins met with management and some staff yesterday to discuss the DHB's dire financial situation - at the same time announcing a $180 million boost to their coffers.

The same amount the DHB is in deficit for but there's confusion over what the money will be used for.

As Sally Murphy reports the minister's rescue package comes with a warning to live within their budget.
