Northland iwi urges visitors to respect rules for kauri

From Morning Report, 6:20 am on 1 October 2020

A Northland iwi is urging people to be respectful of rules designed to prevent the spread of kauri dieback.

Te Roroa iwi is the kaitiaki for Waipoua Forest, home to Tane Mahuta and Te Matua Ngahere.

The iwi is working hard to stop the disease spreading among the forest with the iconic giant kauri trees.

The iwi's general manager Snow Tane spoke with RNZ reporter Jean Bell about how badly behaved visitors are jeopardising their efforts.
