Labour fears a split in the left-of-centre vote could trip the party up in the race for Auckland central.
Polling in mid-September suggested a comfortable Labour Party win, with National a good 15 points back.
But now the Greens are pouring a huge effort into the seat - setting the scene for a tight three-way race.
