Parts of the country which have been Covid-19 free for many months are now waiting to see if they will have new cases as a result of the latest cluster.
Three family members who tested positive for Covid-19 this week travelled from Auckland to Taupo over the weekend, unaware they could be infectious.
They met up with 18 others from Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton and Kawerau who are now being tested.
Thirteen other close contacts are from Auckland.
