Research uncovering how widespread eronite mineral is

New research into a cancer-causing mineral beneath Auckland has already had to hose down industry concerns. Auckland university researchers aiming to pinpoint the risks from erionite rock have won a government grant of almost 8 million dollars The massive City Rail Link tunnelling project, is the only infrastructure works where safety plans have been updated to include erionite The Crown-owned company told RNZ it objected to the researchers' draft briefings about the erionite, for appearing to fault safety measures but that this has now been sorted out. A co-leader of the research, associate professor of geology Martin Brook says they are virtually starting from scratch, including in figuring out how widespread the mineral is.
