The fishing industry and recreational fishers are backing the Green's plan to review the quota system but they are sceptical about other plans the party has to protect the waters around New Zealand.
The Greens policy includes protecting 30 percent of the country's oceans by 2030 by creating more marine reserves asnd sanctuaries.
It also wants a 10 year moratorium on seabed mining and to ban some fishing methods in the Hauraki Gulf.
