Legalised cannabis won't put more drugged drivers on road - govt adviser

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 21 September 2020

Legalising cannabis isn't guaranteed to put more drugged-up drivers on the road, according to one government adviser.

In 2019, alcohol or drugs were a factor in 131 fatal crashes on the road, and those numbers have been rising steadily over the past five years.

While some believe accidents and deaths could rise if weed was made legal, some evidence from overseas doesn't appear to back that up.

Ben Strang reports.
