Covid-19: Hundreds of education jobs on the line

Schools are starting to consider laying off extra teachers they have been paying for with fees from foreign students.

They and polytechnics, universities and private institutions are turning their minds to the big hole the lack of international students will put in next year's budgets.

Patrick Walsh from the Schools International Education Business Association told RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen emergency government funding is protecting the jobs of international student directors and home-stay coordinators but other jobs are at risk.
