Grey Power on Grace Virtue manslaughter pleas

From Morning Report, 7:50 am on 9 September 2020

Three teenage girls yesterday pleaded guilty to the murder of 90-year-old Grace Virtue, who died of a brain injury following a home invasion in Levin last year.

The pleas brought an early end to a jury trial at Palmerston North High Court, where sentencing will take place on November 13.

Grace Virtue's granddaughter, Samantha, broke down when telling the court how her deteriorating grandmother had described the incident.

The guilty pleas will bring a sense of relief to them, according to Terry Hemmingsen, the president of Horowhenua Grey Power.
