Tahr cull could have 'devastating' effect, hunter says

From Morning Report, 8:38 am on 2 September 2020

The Tahr Foundation says it's disappointed with the Department of Conservation's decision to press ahead with the majority of its planned tahr cull.

Hunting has not been enough to stop tahr numbers ballooning to an estimated 35,000 on public conservation land, where they wreak havoc on fragile ecosystems.

The decision to press ahead means fewer tahr for recreational hunters.

Tahr Foundation spokesman Willie Duley speaks to Corin Dann.
