Covid-19: Siouxsie Wiles 'worried' about Auckland Alert Level change

From Morning Report, 8:17 am on 31 August 2020

Auckland has joined the rest of New Zealand in level 2 - albeit with a handful of extra restrictions.

Given the new cases of the virus that continue to turn up in the community, it's a choice that's left some health experts - who until now have been largely behind the government's public health response - uncomfortable.

Dr Siouxsie Wiles told Morning Report the move has left her worried.

"I am worried because the question is how well isolated is the cluster? Obviously now we're all moving around," she said.

Wiles said she doesn't think the change will prevent the cluster from being closed, but it may affect the time frames.

"I don't think we can't get this cluster under control, but how long it will take to get the cluster under control when Aucklanders are moving around much more."
