Anti waste campaigners are applauding a report that recommends every New Zealander uses the same method for kerbside recycling.
It's hoped it would remove the confusion around how to handle our plastic, glass and cardboard.
The government's also putting $37 million will go towards upgrading seven recycling plants.
Rubbish at the plants will be sorted with automated technology rather than by human hand for the sake of speed and safety.
