The sole Silver Ferns debutant, 20-year-old midcourter Maddy Gordon, has taken just one season to graduate from a bit part player for the Pulse, to winning back to back ANZ Premiership titles as a full time starter and being selected to the New Zealand side.
Gordon helped the Pulse defend their crown on Sunday, before being picked in the Silver Ferns squad yesterday, when coach Noeline Taurua named a 16 strong squad for upcoming training camps.
As yet though, the Ferns have no games to play. It's hoped a Constellation Cup series can go ahead in November but that would likely involve Australia coming here and going into quarantine.
That couldn't dampen Gordon's spirits though.
Sports reporter Joe Porter spoke to the young star, who's meteoric rise is still sinking in.
