Kaikōura residents disagree over proposed kerbside rubbish collection

From Morning Report, 8:43 am on 21 August 2020

Everywhere around New Zealand kerbside rubbish collections are a normal part of every week, but there's no rubbish collection in Kaikōura.

Residents have petitioned the Kaikōura District Council to start collecting their household waste, but some say that will just encourage people to generate more rubbish.

Kaikōura resident Ralph Hogan says one of the reasons he moved to the town was due to its lower-waste ethos, and he opposes the idea of introducing kerbside collection.
