Covid-19: Cook Islands could see mass redundancies if no bubble soon - resort owner

From Morning Report, 7:17 am on 11 August 2020

A Cook Islands resort owner says there will be mass redundancies if there is no travel bubble with New Zealand in place when the country's wage subsidy finishes at the end of September.

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says work is underway to make sure any mutual border free of quarantines can be done safely and expects it to be in place by the end of the year.

Resort owner Tata Crocombe argues by then it will be too late and the tourism sector - which makes up 70 percent of the Cooks economy - will be decimated.
