Housing help can't come fast enough - social housing provider

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 10 August 2020

A Māori social housing provider says families renting in the Far North are living in third world conditions and a Green Party policy to build thousands more affordable homes a year is desperately needed.

The party wants to create a non-profit housing sector by boosting by billions the amount the public housing agency Kāinga Ora can borrow.

It also wants the Crown to provide guarantees for community housing providers, including iwi, to build new properties which can be rented out long-term.

The Chief Executive of the Far North Māori social housing provider He Korowai Trust - Ricky Houghton told Hamish Cardwell help can't come quick enough for many families.
