An Auckland man woke up to the news of the Beirut explosion yesterday wondering if his family was still alive.
Lebanese migrant Saad Abu-Chakra spent the day tracking down friends and relatives only to find one member of his family was seriously injured in the blast.
Rescue workers are continuing to search for those missing after the explosion, which has destroyed part of the capital of Lebanon's central business district.
Saad Abu-Chakra, who is now a Lebanese community advocate, spoke to RNZ reporter Rachel Thomas.
