Ashley Bloomfield is warning community transmission of Covid-19 in New Zealand is inevitable, as the authorities try to break Kiwis out of complacency around the virus.
Shops, restaurants and schools across the country are being asked to redouble their efforts to display QR codes for the Covid tracer app.
Despite over 600,000 kiwis registering for the app, regular use has been slow to catch on. It seems without a threat of Covid-19 in New Zealand, that isn't about to change.
Dr Bloomfield is also advising Kiwis to stock up on masks, saying people will be asked to use them in enclosed spaces at Alert Level 2 and mask-wearing could be compulsory at Alert Level 3.
