Lamb numbers expected to fall due to drought

From Morning Report, 8:49 am on 3 August 2020

The number of sheep being born this summer is expected to fall sharply thanks to the drought over summer and autumn.

Ewes without enough grass to eat carry far fewer twins than usual and hardly any triplets.

While the extent of the problem this year will only be confirmed in a couple of months, already two regions are showing a downward trend.

Eric Frykberg reports.
