It's a question that has intrigued humanity for centuries.
NASA has launched a new rover to the red planet to take a step towards answering that question. Scientists believe that ancient Mars was once like Earth - with a thick atmosphere, a warmer climate and with oceans and lakes - essentially a good place to get life started.
