Some tenants in the country's newest high-end shopping precinct are currently rent-free in a bid to soften the blow from Covid-19's economic effects.
The $1 billion Commercial Bay next to the Britomart Train Station in central Auckland opened last month - with more than 120 retailers, cafes, restaurants, fashion stores and salons.
The owner of Cali Press cafe in the precinct is Chris Monaghan, who told reporter Amy Williams setting up in Commercial Bay was a no-brainer but businesses are now dealing with the fallout in foot traffic due to Covid-19.
