NZ-China relationship sours after extradition treaty suspension

A Hong Konger in New Zealand is fearful of a campaign of harassment against activists here, as the tension between China and the west escalates.

New Zealand has suspended its extradition treaty with Hong Kong in response to China's new national security law for the territory, saying the territory's judicial system is now not independent enough from mainland China.

China has told New Zealand to immediately stop interfering in its internal matters, or risk further harming the relationship.
