Donald Trump sending federal agents to Chicago

From Morning Report, 6:45 am on 24 July 2020

In the US, President Trump will send hundreds of federal agents to Chicago in an effort to stamp out rising crime.

Gun violence has spiked in the US city with over 400 murders this year alone.

The mayor of Chicago is cautious, saying officials will be on guard for any 'steps out of line' from federal forces.

Trump has been accused of cracking down on crime as a political move to try and bolster plummeting numbers in the polls.

He has hit out at democrat-led cities which he says are out of control as the radical left tries to dismantle the police.
