Spat breaks out over Super Rugby circuit

A spat has broken out over how the international Super Rugby circuit should be organized in 2021.

New Zealand Rugby is under fire for directly approaching a select group of Australian Super Rugby teams to participate in a competition of its own design next year without running the idea past its Australian counterpart.

That led an incensed Roger Davis, the chairman of the Waratahs, to suggest that Rugby Australia might arrange its own competition.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, he said "They're saying we're not good enough, so I think we could say 'wait, you're not good enough to play in our comp'."
