Outcry over Andrew Falloon's mental health excuse

From Morning Report, 7:12 am on 22 July 2020

There's been a public outcry over the use of mental health as an excuse for the behaviour of former National Party MP Andrew Falloon.

His initial public statement cited unresolved grief related to the recent suicide of a friend.

At the time, party leader Judith Collins said Falloon was suffering from significant mental health issues and called for the public to respect his privacy.

Her comments changed on Tuesday and she called on him to resign from Parliament immeadiately, which he did.
