Schools, universities and polytechnics are figuring out what to do with thousands of foreign students who will have to stay in the country over the summer holidays.
There are about 50,000 international students in New Zealand and there are not yet any quarantine arrangements that will allow those who are part-way through their studies to leave at the end of the year and return next year.
Education leaders say the students will need accommodation and pastoral care, as well as jobs, holiday programmes or courses to study.
