Tertiary enrolments rise as job opportunities fall

Hundreds of people are enrolling in tertiary study because they cannot find jobs in the pandemic-affected economy.

Victoria University and Manukau Institute of Technology have confirmed big jumps in their mid-year enrolments and other institutions are expected to report increases too.

They say it is likely to be the start of a big increase in student numbers next year.
