Covid-19: Government tracing app downloads stall

From Morning Report, 7:26 am on 16 July 2020

Part of the ongoing fight against Covid-19 is a renewed call by the government for New Zealanders to use its Covid contact tracer app.

It has even indicated it may make it mandatory for businesses to display the QR code for people to scan when they enter.

The number of people who've downloaded the app appears to have stalled, with 596,000 people having installed it on their phones as of yesterday, just 5000 more downloads than the same time last week.

So is anyone really paying attention to the government's calls?

Reporter Matthew Theunissen hit the streets of Auckland to find out.
