Todd Muller has resigned as Leader of the Opposition and leader of the National Party.
He said in a statement on Tuesday the role has taken a heavy toll on him personally and it was no longer tenable from a health perspective.
The resignation was effective as soon as the statement was released, leaving the National Party scrambling to find a new leader.
