A Kiwi set to be deported from Australia says he would be happy to stay in a Covid-19 isolation facility back home - as it would be a step closer to visiting his dying father.
Miles Rowe is being deported after committing crimes during paranoid and delusional episodes.
He was due to be deported back to New Zealand from Australia in March, but Covid-19 threw a spanner in the works.
He has been in an Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney since then.
He has been told he will be flown home on or after this Tuesday.
Rowe told our reporter Jean Bell he would be happy to isolate in a Covid-19 facility after being in limbo for so long.
