Labour Party promising new forestry conversion rules

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 7 July 2020

Labour is promising new rules for the conversion of farmland into forestry if elected in September. The move is a response to concerns about forestry planting on productive farmland.

Some argue plantations undermine thriving rural communities and replace them with a "green desert".

Andy Scott is chairman of 50 Shades of Green which has lobbied for change and Phil Taylor is president of the Forest Owners Association.
