The government plans to plough $3 billion into infrastructure projects across the country, in a bid to power New Zealand's Covid-19 recovery.

Some of the initial projects that will be funded from the Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund were announced yesterday.

Josh Willoughby is the chief executive of Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union, which will receive $8 million to replace an unsafe grandstand at its Gisborne playng ground.

David Trevewas is the mayor of Taupo District Council, where $20 million will be spent on the redevelopment of the city centre.
