Cabinet decide who will pay for isolation after border review

From Morning Report, 7:13 am on 29 June 2020

Cabinet will discuss today whether travellers should pay for a portion of the cost of mandatory isolation.

The decision follows a review of quarantine and managed isolation which found serious failures at all stages for thousands of people returning to New Zealand.

The findings mean the government won't resume exemptions for those wanting to leave isolation early on compassionate grounds, because ministers still aren't satisfied the system is working properly.
