Nearly a quarter of primary teachers admit feeling unsafe

Nearly a quarter of primary school teachers have sometimes felt unsafe in their classrooms.

That's according to a national survey that found that violence is becoming more common in New Zealand primary schools.

One primary school teacher recalled to RNZ's education correspondent John Gerritsen an episode last year where he found himself trying to pacify an aggressive eleven-year old.
