Commercial fishers say new rules to protect some of the rarest dolphins in the world are a kick in the guts for a sector already struggling due to Covid-19.
The government is beefing up fishing restrictions around much of the South Island and the West Coast of the North Island.
Released yesterday, the changes expand the protection area for Maui dolphins but doesn't tackle measures to safeguard Hector's dolphins.
