St John Ambulance cutting 100 jobs

From Morning Report, 6:08 am on 25 June 2020

St John Ambulance is cutting 100 jobs in a bid to save $30 million.

The service, which gets about 70 percent of its funding for the Government, says it was facing a large deficit for the coming year, even before the pandemic.

With fundraising money well down on previous years, and its commercial arm not earning during the pandemic, St John's financial difficulties have hit sooner than thought.

St John's chief executive, Peter Bradley, told RNZ reporter Ben Strang he doesn't believe the move will impact front line jobs.
