A migrant who lost her job because of Covid-19 says attempts to return home have been thwarted by an inability to contact Air New Zealand to rebook her cancelled flights, or even get a refund. Irina, from Germany, who is living on a friend's couch and reliant on charities for the basics after losing her job as an executive assistant in March. After two earlier attempts to return home were cancelled, she managed to get on an Air New Zealand flight to Frankfurt for 5 July. But on Friday Irina was told that too was cancelled. She told our reporter Anusha Bradley she's now in a desperate situation, stuck in limbo waiting for Air New Zealand to return her calls. After inquiries from RNZ Air New Zealand got in touch with Irina and say they have rebooked her ticket for no extra charge. They have also apologised to her for the trouble she has had in getting through to arrange her rebooking.
