Environmentalists are suspicious that the true impact of fast-tracking infrastructure projects is being underestimated.
Minister for the Environment David Parker has announced eleven projects to be fast-tracked through the resource management process.
But Forest and Bird believes the proposed decision-making process will not factor in a large project's long-term environmental effects.
