Muslim community happy to celebrate Eid despite restrictions

It's celebration time for Muslims around the country, as people observe Eid-Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The Covid-19 restrictions meant yesterday's celebrations had to be a bit low-key this year, despite the social nature of the day - which involves mass prayer, feasting and gatherings. But Zain Ali, who teaches Islamic Studies at Auckland University, says Muslims in the country have been happy to comply with the new rules. He spoke to RNZ reporter Anan Zaki and started by discussing the importance of Eid in Islamic culture.
