The tourism industry is warning thousands more jobs are at risk if there's no change to travel rules under Alert Level 2.
The country could be at Level 2 in less than a fortnight but under the current rules people would have to avoid non-essential travel.
Yesterday Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern appeared to leave the door open to change, saying that Cabinet would reassess the travel rules before moving down alert levels.
Tourism Industry Aotearoa chief executive Chris Roberts told political reporter Yvette McCullough if people cannot travel around the country under Alert Level 2, hundreds of businesses will collapse, very quickly.
