Covid-19: Markets open slightly higher after turmoil

From Morning Report, 7:26 am on 3 March 2020

The number of Covid-19 coronavirus deaths worldwide is now more than 3,000 with more than 90 percent in Hubei, China.

There have now been deaths in 10 countries outside of China. Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Iceland, Portugal, Armenia, and the Czech Republic are the latest nations to confirm their first cases.

Last week Wall Street had its biggest weekly decline since the 2008 financial crisis triggered by coronavirus fears.

But markets have opened slightly higher today.
