Guidelines for treating endometriosis launched

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 2 March 2020

Endometriosis New Zealand says today's launch of formal clinical guidelines for the treatment of endometriosis is well overdue and a momentous occasion.

Later this morning Minister for Women Julie-Anne Genter will officially launch guidelines for health professionals to follow when diagnosing and treating the gynaecological disease.

Endometriosis affects one in ten New Zealanders who get periods but right now it takes an average of eight years for patients to be diagnosed.

Deborah Bush, chief executive of Endometriosis New Zealand, speaks to Corin Dann.
