Counties Manukau women had breast cancer diagnoses delayed

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 20 February 2020

The Cancer Society's head Mike Kernaghan says South Auckland women who've had their cancer diagnoses delayed are the victims of a borderline third world health system.

Thirty-five women at Counties Manukau DHB had delayed breast cancer diagnoses last year because of long waiting lists.

The health minister David Clark says he expects the DHB to improve its performance but the board says it needs funding and resources.

Kernaghan told RNZ Health Correspondent Rowan Quinn New Zealanders should be worried.
