Wuhan evacuees spend first night back home

It has just been the first night home since 27 December for Lily Gao and her two-year-old daughter. The pair are finally home in Auckland after their evacuation from China and quarantine in Whangaparaoa.

RNZ has been talking to Lily since the end of January when she first found herself under lockdown in Wuhan because of the coronavirus outbreak.

In other Covid-19 related news, two of the eight New Zealanders due to fly home from Tokyo this morning have tested positive for the virus and have not been allowed to board the Qantas charter flight to Darwin.

They were diagnosed during final medical checks and are being treated in a hospital in Japan.

It brings the number of New Zealanders with Covid-19 to four.

The Qantas flight with now just 6 New Zealanders aboard left Japan just after 5am this morning.
