Britain suspends funding to Commonwealth Secretariat

The British government has followed New Zealand and Australia in suspending its funding to the Commonwealth Secretariat, the body that runs the international organisation from in London. UK diplomats have told the secretary-general of the Commonwealth that Britain's annual contribution will be withheld until her secretariat improves its financial procedures.
